Spicy peach Margarita
Possibly my favorite drink! I love tequila and I margaritas are so tangy and refreshing, somehow you get transported on holiday in the blink of an eye.
It’s one of my go to drinks since it’s a crowd pleaser and so easy to make when you have triple sec and tequila around. I like to serve it as a summer drink for a barbecue of if we’re having a taco night, with some tajin on the rim for an extra kick! Use a mix of different salts if you’re going for the more traditional version, it will give it a nice texture.
You can substitute the tequila with a mezcal if you’re looking for a smokier flavor.
In this version, I add a fruity touch to the classic drink with some peach purée.
Ingredients
For the cocktail:
2 parts tequila
1 part triple sec
1 part lime juice
1 whole lime
2 tablespoons of salt or tajin. You can mix different salt types to for texture
1 cup of ice
For the peach purée:
4 peaches
A tablespoon sugar
A small jalapeño
Preparation
Start with your peach purée: pit the peaches and slice them, transfer them in a saucepan with the sugar and a bit of water. Add a piece of the jalapeño or more, depending on the desired level of spiciness. Let it cook for about 20 minutes until jammy.
Let it cool down and blend it until completely smooth.
Prepare your cocktail glass. Cut a slice of the lime and run it around the rim of the glass, wetting it. Add the salt to the plate, and the rim of your glass in it.
Place the drink ingredients in the shaker or in a glass jar, and shake it until it the container gets really cold (at least 30 seconds). Taste and adjust to your liking.
Strain into your salted margarita glass and enjoy!
